As an experiment I decided to see if I could go from nothing to a fully functioning blog using only my iPhone. And this is it!
It really wasn’t that hard as there is a pretty decent web browser built in to the iPhone. I cursed the Dreamhost admin panel a few times, but have since found out that there is in fact an application that uses the Dreamhost API on the iPhone. It is called DreamAdmin. I haven’t used it yet as the site is done, but hope to soon.
Copy and paste from the 3.0 update proved useful when logging in to WordPress. Without it I would have had to remember the cryptic password or jump back and forth between windows. Copy and paste is not something you need every day, but when you do, it is priceless. Selecting just the password was a little tricky, but I got the hang of it.
I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to install plugins in Wordpress as well as pick themes. I ended up using Thesis in the end (alas uploading via FTP from my desktop) as it is my favorite theme and I have used it a lot.
I do have WPTouch installed too, so if you come to the site from an iPhone, you will see an optimized look and feel.
This was an interesting experiment as I was able to get the site running while doing other things.
